The specimen combines rich sea-green coloration, bold cubic geometry, layered crystal growth, and a contrasting fluorescent response in a highly displayable cabinet-sized formation.
Under ordinary lighting, the fluorite ranges from pale mint and translucent aqua to deeper emerald green. Numerous cubic crystals overlap across the specimen, creating a complex three-dimensional surface rather than a simple flat plate. Several larger cubes establish the primary architecture, while smaller secondary crystals fill the spaces between them and extend the crystallization across multiple sides.
Many crystal faces exhibit stepped growth patterns, fine surface textures, naturally frosted areas, and reflective geometric windows. Selected edges and thinner zones transmit light particularly well, revealing internal color zoning and variations in transparency. About Zhejiang Fluorite
Fluorite is a calcium fluoride mineral celebrated for its extraordinary range of colors and its ability to form sharply geometric crystals. Although fluorite belongs to the cubic crystal system, its perfect cleavage follows octahedral directions. This means that natural contacts and cleavage surfaces may appear triangular or angled even when the surrounding crystals display classic square faces.
The cubic habit is especially prominent throughout this specimen. Repeated stages of crystallization produced larger foundational cubes followed by smaller overlapping crystals and stepped surface growth. These later generations give the formation its dense architectural texture and allow it to reflect light differently from nearly every viewing angle.
China has produced many internationally collected fluorite specimens, including significant green cubic material from Zhejiang Province. Zhejiang fluorites may occur in a variety of colors and habits, with some specimens displaying cubic, modified cubic, etched, or complex intergrown formations.
Fluorescence occurs when a mineral absorbs ultraviolet energy and releases part of that energy as visible light.
