Several substantially larger apophyllite crystals project from the spire. These range from softly translucent mint green to nearly colorless, with strongly reflective faces, visible internal zoning, natural inclusions, and sharply defined terminations. Apophyllite commonly develops inside cavities within the ancient basalt flows of Maharashtra. Mineral-rich fluids circulated through openings in the volcanic rock, depositing multiple generations of crystals. Earlier rounded or elongated structures could later become coated with fine druzy growth before larger apophyllite crystals developed across the available surfaces.

The apophyllite crystals on this specimen display the mineral’s characteristic strong luster and excellent transparency. Natural internal veils, inclusions, zoning, and cleavage-related features create changing reflections inside the crystals as the viewing angle shifts.
