An authentic Paleolagus sp. fossil jaw section from the world-famous White River Group of Wyoming, preserving beautifully detailed cheek teeth from one of North America's earliest rabbits.

About Paleolagus
Paleolagus is among the earliest true rabbits known from North America. Living during the Oligocene, these small herbivores occupied open woodlands and grasslands while feeding on low-growing vegetation.
Their specialized cheek teeth evolved for grinding abrasive plant material, and the distinctive enamel patterns remain one of the easiest ways to identify the genus. Fossils from Wyoming's White River Group are considered some of the finest examples of Oligocene mammal preservation anywhere in the world, representing a period of major diversification among mammals following the extinction of the dinosaurs.
