Stilbite is a zeolite mineral formed when hot, mineral-rich fluids circulated through gas cavities within ancient basalt lava flows. As these solutions slowly cooled, they deposited layers of delicate bladed crystals that radiated outward into the fan-shaped and sheaf-like formations for which stilbite is famous. The Deccan Traps of Maharashtra are recognized worldwide for producing some of the finest and most aesthetically pleasing zeolite specimens ever discovered.
