A striking Diamond Apophyllite Stalactite Formation from Maharashtra, India, featuring a slender, naturally sculptural core densely covered with brilliant apophyllite crystals. Mounted upright for display, the formation rises into an elegant vertical silhouette that sparkles intensely beneath direct lighting.
The specimen displays a soft icy-green coloration with transparent to translucent crystalline growth across nearly its entire surface. Countless reflective crystal faces create the bright, diamond-like brilliance responsible for the popular collector term “Diamond Apophyllite.” Several larger crystals emerge from the fine crystalline coating, adding dimension and revealing the mineral’s characteristic glassy luster.
Its elongated stalactitic habit records mineral growth within a protected cavity in ancient volcanic basalt. Mineral-rich fluids deposited apophyllite around a preexisting core over successive stages, gradually producing the densely crystallized formation visible today. Subtle natural inclusions and small areas of mineral residue preserve its authentic geological character.
Measuring approximately 1 × 0.75 × 3 inches and weighing 35 grams, this compact specimen offers excellent height and visual impact. Its pale coloration, brilliant sparkle, and unusual formation make it an attractive addition to an apophyllite collection, India mineral display, or curated cabinet of crystallized stalactites.

About Diamond Apophyllite
Apophyllite is the commonly used collector name for a group of hydrated potassium-calcium silicate minerals frequently found within cavities in volcanic basalt. Many apophyllite specimens from Maharashtra are fluorapophyllite-(K), although precise species-level identification requires analytical testing.
The name “Diamond Apophyllite” is a descriptive trade term referring to specimens with exceptional clarity, reflective crystal faces, and intense diamond-like sparkle. It does not indicate that the specimen contains natural diamond.
Apophyllite crystals are admired for their brilliant glassy luster, transparent to translucent appearance, and distinctive tetragonal forms. They may develop as sharply terminated prisms, blocky crystals, pyramidal points, drusy coatings, and crystallized stalactitic formations.
Maharashtra’s Deccan Traps are internationally renowned for producing exceptional apophyllite and associated secondary minerals. Gas cavities left within ancient basalt flows were later penetrated by mineral-rich fluids, allowing apophyllite, stilbite, heulandite, calcite, chalcedony, and other minerals to crystallize over successive geological stages.
