About Alaçam Amethyst

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz. Its color develops when trace iron incorporated into the quartz structure interacts with natural geological irradiation. Variations in iron distribution, crystal growth, inclusions, and oxidation can produce shades ranging from extremely pale lavender to smoky violet and richer purple.

“Open-point” is a descriptive collector and trade term used here to distinguish this formation from densely packed sugar-druzy amethyst. It refers to the visible separation between many of the larger quartz crystals, allowing their individual shapes, terminations, and growth directions to be appreciated more clearly. It is not a separate mineral variety.
